Who to contact for wedding site ideas-Part 1

The wedding site is obviously the most important part of the entire wedding. Without it, nothing else happens. So if you are just starting out as a wedding planner, where do you turn to for wedding site ideas?

Caterers are known for going to the wedding site. Almost all caterers take their goods out of the shop and to the customer. Because of this, they are a great wealth of information on where they have gone for weddings.

This actually can be a two-fold mission. When contacting vendors, such as caterers, about your services and trying to make a contact with their company, ask them what unusual places they have had to work at for a wedding. This might get them to open up and start talking more about their company and sites they have conducted business at, as well as ask you about your services. It is a great way to break the ice with caterers.

Chambers of Commerce

When starting your own wedding consulting firm it is highly advisable to become a member of your local chamber of commerce. Here you will gain many contacts and gain another sales person for your business. Since the chamber of commerce is often the place many wedding parties will consult first, if they are not from the area, the chamber of commerce could easily recommend your services.

When talking with the chamber of commerce, be sure to ask them of areas they know of that would make a great place to have a wedding. Quite often, they might be able to refer you to a site that you would never have thought of on your own, even if you live in the same area.

Bridal Magazines

Of course, wedding magazines are going to have many suggestions for great wedding sites, but there are other wedding magazines besides these where information can be found. Look for magazines that put out a bridal issue. It is becoming more common to find some magazines such as Town & Country to have these issues.

As a wedding planner, you should also subscribe to some regional magazines that cater to weddings in their area. For example, there could be a magazine all about weddings in Aspen. Even if your hundreds of miles away from Aspen, you will have an edge over your competition if you can talk knowledgeably about wedding sites out of your area.

Wedding planners are looked up to as the primary source of information on all things having to do with weddings. By expanding your sights to take in exotic wedding locations as well as the local ones, you will be more of a wedding expert, especially when you know how to get the information that is available all around.
